Closet Organization for the New Year

I started a blog series about ways to keep organized during the New Year– I know that’s definitely one of my resolutions.  Here is the second tip: closet organizing!

It’s definitely something I’ve struggled with, but I’m here to help you all out.  One thing I’m trying this year is this:

Flip your hangers backwards so the hooks face you.  When you wear something, put it back in with the hook facing in.  That way, at the end of 2014, you can donate anything you haven’t worn in a year :)

Another tip (which you can sort of see in the picture) is that I organize my clothes by color, that way I can form outfits pretty quickly.  It’s convenient, but the problem is that with so many patterned clothes, rainbow order gets pretty difficult.

Anyway, good luck and let me know in the comments how it goes!  (And stay tuned for some fun with super bowl snacks haha)

Organizing Jewelry for the New Year

Image

One big to-do I have for 2014 is to organize myself.  Anyone who knows me will know that I am not, by any means, a “neat” person- not by far.  But, I’m trying.  I’ll be posting different methods I test out as I go along, so stay tuned!

The first thing I tried- jewelry organizing.  Surprisingly, I wasn’t actually that bad off to begin with- I have a spinning earring holder and two cute boxes for bracelets.  The main issue was necklaces.  I had them all just thumb-tacked to my wall, which wasn’t too bad, but wasn’t visually appealing either.

I was doing some major Pinterest surfing yesterday, and I saw a hanger used as a jewelry organizer.  I decided to try it out, and I think it works pretty well.  It doesn’t hold ALL of my jewelry, but it does hold all of my necklaces which is what I was looking for.  It looks a lot better than it did previously, also.

What do you think?  Leave your opinion down below, as well as any ideas :)
